Mirakl engages with customers by gifting Forest Shares as a Christmas present

Every year Mirakl sends their customers a gift to thank them for their loyalty. In 2020, Mirakl wanted to anchor this action in having a positive impact on the planet, and so created the Platform Pioneer Forest and gifted a portion of it to each of their customers. The traceability provided by Reforestum’s platform allows both Mirakl and their customers to track their share in the forest and see it grow in parallel to their partnership. The project was renewed in 2021 to finance 5 extra hectares, reaffirming Mirakl’s commitment to a sustainable future.

Every year Mirakl sends their customers a gift to thank them for their partnership and loyalty throughout the year. In the context of 2020 and in alignment with an increase in their commitment to sustainability, the usual strategy needed an overhaul. “We felt we needed to do something virtual, reduce the impact on the environment whilst aligning our values with our customers. Doing something anchored in sustainability became a clear winner”, described Anne Kelley, VP of Customer Marketing & Community at Mirakl.

The annual gift is a significant moment for Mirakl’s relationship with their customers, so the organization was looking to find something unique they could trust. It was also important that any environmental actions they took had a lasting impact and were worthwhile, and meaningful to their customers.

Reforestum’s innovative platform turned out to be the perfect fit for Mirakl’s sustainability mission, as it provides the possibility to grow a high quality and certified forest and give a specific portion of it to each of their customers, who can then monitor the location and evolution of their share of the forest.

In Anne Kelley’s words: “We really liked the rigor behind the project - the certification process ensured we could trust Reforestum’s operations. There are a lot of tree planting companies out there where you either don't know where the trees are planted or you might just know the country. Mirakl was really keen to ensure we could track and watch our direct impact.”

Mirakl funded a 3-hectare shared forest from the Calahorra de Boedo afforestation Spanish project called the Platform Pioneer Forest and distributed 100-square-meter (sqm) of Forest Shares among 300+ customers, companies across several B2B and B2C industries.

Mirakl did not want to simply “plant some seeds and walk away”, so it was the technology that provided transparency and traceability to the project. As Anne Kelley affirms “Reforestum gave us the technology that inspired us to be able to do this. We love how it allows us to see the individual sections of the forest”.

Platform Pioneer Forest funded by Mirakl and distributed to their customers

Mirakl delivered the present to their customers by email, making use of Reforestum’s newly launched Enterprise API, enabling Mirakl’s customers to claim their very own Forest Share of the Platform Pioneer Forest. Both Mirakl and their Platform Pioneers can locate and keep track of their forest, and see it grow alongside their partnership.

Such was the success of the campaign in 2020 that Mirakl renewed the project in December 2021 to finance an additional 5 hectares, gifting this time 150 sqm to each of their existing and new clients.

The Platform Pioneer Forest embodies the values Mirakl shares with their customers, and has been the beginning of a long-term partnership between Mirakl and Reforestum.
